Brown bears, black bears, bald eagles, seals, whales, sea otters, glaciers, fjords and snow-capped peaks; they’re all right here in Alaska! And if you get enough of the wildlife and natural beauty (it’s doubtful you will), there is Native American art and culture, gold rush towns and Russian heritage. It can even be arranged for you to go dog-sledding!
Alaska’s Inside Passage and Gulf of Alaska are the two areas of cruising. The Inside Passage is usually 7 nights and sails round-trip from Seattle or Vancouver. A Gulf of Alaska cruise also includes the Inside Passage. It sails one-way and travels farther north, thus allowing you to visit more ports-of-call along the way. This itinerary will range from 7 to 12 nights.
Most cruise lines now offer special packages that include both a cruise and land tour. The land portion typically includes motor coach travel, a domed rail-car excursion and accommodations in a rustic, but modern, wilderness lodge. A land tour highlight is one that visits Denali National Park.
Princess, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and Crystal are just a few of the wonderful cruise lines that sail to Alaska.
